What is a certified diverse supplier?

A certified diverse vendor is defined as a business that is at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by one or more members of a diverse group, which includes minority, women, LGBT, disabled and veterans.

Why do we encourage diverse suppliers to obtain a third-party certification?

Third party certification enhances our ability to identify certified suppliers for opportunities. Also, diverse supplier certification enables us to accurately track and report our spend with diverse suppliers. Equity Residential will be using a SupplierGATEWAY platform to support supplier credential checks and diverse spend tracking for quarterly reporting. This platform helps ensure we have continued data to support accountability around our supplier diversity efforts.
